Hey, guys. I'm rendering the cloud scene over again, now with
slope-dependant textures, and the SuperPatch crashed on me about half-way
through the image. I was able to get the error message:
POVRAY caused an invalid page fault in
module POVRAY.EXE at 0257:0041c1c3.

But, then I tried to continue the trace, and six lines later, it crashed
again (same message). I don't know what's special about that part of the
image. I really don't. Please, can someone help me? Would restarting the
machine or something like that help? Waaa....! I wanna render it....!

I think I've narrowed it down to the water. It seems to be causing the
crash, what I don't understand is why it didn't show up earlier, and why it
was working (the entire scene would render) up until recently. I even
restarted and the problem persists. What do I do? Does someone want my
source code to try it out on their own?

Do you use the SP 3.1g ? It crashed on me too, so I'm back to SP 3.1e for the
moment.

Could you both send me scene files that cause crashes so I might
track them down?

These are my opinions. I do NOT speak for the POV-Team.
The superpatch: http://www2.fwi.com/~parkerr/superpatch/
My other stuff: http://www2.fwi.com/~parkerr/traces.html

I'd like to do that but right now the scene involves 55 Mb of meshes and
image_maps so I have to simplify it a little before I can send anything...

I'd have to send you the file for making the water heightfield and the rest
of the sources. I have to study for bimestral exams right now, so it'll be a
while. I'll go back to 3.1e if it solves my problem.

If it helps I've been having crashes too they seem to be related to normals
especially when attached to HF's

I've been getting inconsistent crashes after rendering parametric{} objects.
I haven't got a file that winSPg crashes on consistently though.

Today I merged UVPov with the superpatch and ran into that problem. It was
with a HF that was generated from a pattern. I have added some code that
stopped the crash. You'll have to wait about a week for the next release of
UVPov, though. I'm working with smellenbergh to create
UVPov+SuperPatch+MultiPatch. :-)
