I know the feeling. I bought two big boxes of Lego less than a year ago,
for their 25th aneversary sale. Total about 2000 pieces. The "freestyle"
set contains lots of interesting pieces, indeed. But what I noticed was the
colors. I remember them being red and white, and that's about it!

As I recall, the play-dough extrusion machine (no theme, just a useful press
with interchangable nozles) were out by the time Lego was invented. Those
pasta-making machines remind me of that. I don't use such a machine -- I
use a hand-cranked Atlas pasta press for pasta.

October 27, 1966. Lego came out when I was 7, as they just had their silver
anaversary last year.

I recall that the blocks and single row pcs. were all red while
the flat pcs. were white. Not much variation at all.
