I just got this in an auto-respond email for submitting my software to a
site:
"Old programmers never die - they just get a fatal error."

An epitaph on a programmer's grave:
"March 17, 1951
General Protection Fault
Septebmer 29, 1998
Unexpected Runtime Error"
This is no allusion to a real-life person, I just made up the dates on
the fly.

I heard a version of the original one which I think is really sweet -
"Programers never die, they just gosub without return"
