Is the photon patch going to be integrated into the superpatch
any time soon?

If so when.

I've got a scene that uses sphere sweeps and would look much
better (I think) with photons

(Sphere sweep as decor on table, ornate lamp - crystal and multicolour
lights on the table)

I was kinda waiting til Nathan had it exactly the way he wants it in
terms of syntax and all. I try not to include patches that are
explicitly in beta, because I always end up having to re-merge them
later, and that can be much more difficult.

I'm hurrying. ;-) I've got all sorts of great excuses (like final exams,
projects, graduating... yes, this is my last semester as an undergrad!)

The current project for the photon patch is to remove another 12 bytes per
photon of memory usage (bringing it down to 18 bytes per photon, I think).
That, along with the 10 bytes I removed yesterday, should help out some
of you with less RAM.

This memory optimization will come at a slight speed price in the pre-
processing step (but it should only be slight).
