This has been discussed... unfortunately, POB is not completely platform-
independent (problems with the format of floating-point numbers).  I'm
wondering why something like POB could be made to be platform independent,
though.

Hmm, it was discussed in the POV-Team, but it makes more trouble then it helps.

But one of the next versions will have better support for reading POV-files into
own programs
