I have d/l'ed the most recent build about six times. I keep
getting a corrupt install file. I even tried the multi-file d/l,
with the same results. Any suggestions?

What OS? What are the tools you use to either unzip or
gunzip the thing? Do you have the lastest version of {g}unzip?
I know that early versions of gunzip freak out when they
try to uncompress archives made with a recent version.

This has been a problem with this build for myself and others.
I have never quite pinned down the problem but have this to offer.
Try deleting your windows swap file. It's called win386.swp. For
some reason errors get recorded in this file and will continue until
purged. You will have to exit windows to do so either by using the
"restart in dos mode" or from a clean boot into the dos prompt.
Windows won't let you delete it while windows is active. You will not
loose any info by do so and it will not harm your system.
I recently solved a similar install problem with a netscape upgrade.
The install file was ok but the error kept repeating until the swap
file was deleted.
Might work as well for you. Also make sure you delete all files in
the directory you are installing into as well as editing the registry
of all references to pov if you get desperate.

Good luck,

Ken Tyler

I had this problem too; it seems to affect only a few machines. I used brute
force to solve it, i.e. I installed POV on another machine, brought it home on
disks and edited the registry and ini files manually (all install operations are
recorded in the install.log file). But this is very time-consuming, do this only
if nothing else works.
