After installing IE5 (yes I KNOW it is a beta!) the Pov-Ray buttons do not
contain the images they should. In other words they are blank until a mouse
runs over them then they appear. Here are links to example pictures
showing this.

I have tried quite a few other programs that use that style of button and
only Pov-Ray (so far) has shown this effect. Has this happened to anyone
else? I don't recall seeing this under IE4.

No offense but that is what you get for using a Microsoft Beta program. There
release programs have more bugs than other software's beta's and alpha's.

I don't get this with the version of IE5 that ships with Windows 2000 beta 2.
That is version 5.00.0708.700. My comctl32.dll is version 5.00.0707.3000.
I think those version numbers correspond to IE5 beta 1 rather than the
current beta 2, so this may be a recent development. If you're running
beta 2, let me know and I'll see if I can find someone here who's running
it (I can't install it on Windows 2000) and see what happens on their
machine. You might also try reinstalling POV and seeing what happens.

actually POVray isn't the only prog that exhibits this behavior, M$ Image
Composer also has LOTS of buttons probs with IE5 betas. It is a well known,
well documented problem that (I hope anyway) will be fixed

Following up again... I tested this with IE5 beta 2 on Win98, and it's
indeed true. Since where I work is a tech beta for IE5, I'll see what
I can do about getting it fixed. :)
