Would it be possible to patch the POV radiosity algorithm to consider
the ambient value of objects in the scene as sources of light. I think
this would have exciting possibilities. For example an image mapped tv
screen with a high enough ambient value could illuminate a living room.
Or, rooms could be lit by simply creating highly ambient windows.
Wouldn't this be easier than area lights? I realize that lighting a
scene this way with only ambient light could suffer in quality. But, in
combination with traditional light sources, it would give the user much
more flexability with lighting.
Just a thought.
