With permission of the POV-Ray Team, POV-Ray 3.7 smp Unofficial RC6_r3
for Macintosh is available:
The only change between RC6_r2 and RC6_r3 is a bug fix for the editor
where '13' was converted to '10' after a file was saved. :-)
NOTES:
-----------
1) RC6 will be the last version supporting MacOS 10.4 and 10.5.
2) RC6 will be the last version supporting PPC
3) if you want to run this on ML you have to take a huge risk :-)
go to system preferences >> Security & Privacy and turn on "Allow
Applications downloaded from" >> "Anywhere".
Otherwise you will not be able to run it. Or right click on the
application..
4) If you need RC6 (PPC or system 10.4 or 10.5) and find a bug, please
report it and I will fix it
Changes
------------
- fixed a huge memory leak in the preview window
- fixed several small memory leaks
Please read the "Readme beta" or changes.txt file included in the
archives or visit:
http://www.povray.org/beta/
Read carefully which version you should download:
1) 64 bit universal
------------------------
For any Intel-based Macintosh and PPC G5 running Mac OS 10.5 or later,
download the 64 bit version at:
http://megapov.inetart.net/beta/pv37_64_rc6_r3.zip
This version is a universal binary containing a 32- and a 64 bit version
for any Intel-base Macintosh and a 64 bit version for PPC G5.
It will not run on systems prior to Mac OS 10.5.
2) 32 bit universal
------------------------
For any Intel-based Macintosh and PPC G5 running Mac OS 10.4 or later
you can download the standard 32 bit version at:
http://megapov.inetart.net/beta/pv37_rc6_r3.zip
This version is a universal binary containing a 32 bit version for any
Intel-based Macintosh and a 32 bit for PPC G5.
It will not run on systems prior to Mac OS 10.4.
usual but important stuff:
---------------------------------
Please note that this is an unofficial compile so that Macintosh users
can participate in beta testing.
The UI is the same as MacMegaPOV but the renderer is POV-Ray 3.7 without
any modification.
The UI does not reflect in any way how the final official version for
Macintosh is going to be.
You can report core bugs to the POV-Ray-Team but send all UI related
bugs to yvo(DOT)s(AT)gmx.net
Before sending bug reports, please read about this POV-Ray 3.7 release
and known bugs at:
http://www.povray.org/beta/
and make sure the bug isn't reported at:
http://news.povray.org/povray.beta-test/
Please take a few moments to read the "Readme xx" files included in the
package before using the application!
Keep in mind that this is beta software!

I'm sure this is completely unrelated to CR/LF line endings ;)

Yes, it is something very complex, too difficult to explain ;-)
Simply old code for converting line endings that should have been
commented out.
It is also funny that this bug was discovered on the 13th, coincidence?!

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but it seems these SMP unofficial versions of
PovRay 3.7, supporting the PPC architecture, are non existent anywhere on the
internet. Can someone please post a link to the file, perhaps someone has a
copy lying around?
Cheers,
Bish.
