The Seed -- short movie project by Gary J. Shannon Synopisis by scene Scene 1: Establishing shot of moon. Seed (a glowing, tumbling object) falls toward the surface. Scene 2: The American flag in the foreground, LEM in the background. Seed bounces to the ground. Camera pans to follow it as it bounces and rolls into a small crater near the old LEM. Scene 3: Close up on crater rim. A flash of light. A six-legged insect-like robot (a "clicker") appears over rim of crater. Camera lift and pans to show inside of crater as clicker crawls out. Inside are the two halves of the now-empty seed pod. Clicker crawls away from the crater. Scene 4: Clicker stops crawling. Zoom in as clicker "eats" lunar soil. Camera pulls back and tracks parallel to clicker's body. Sparks and glowing from the clicker body and it starts depositing tiny postage-stamp sized micro-robots which scurry away as soon as they are laid. Scene 5: Camera follows micro-bots as they swarm across the surface. Soon they begin to coalesce into knots. In the center of each knot a new clicker can be seen to be taking shape. Micro-bots scurry to and from the construction site apparently bringing raw materials. Scene 6: Long shot showing about a dozen construction sites and about a dozen clickers in various stages of completion. Scene 7: The first new clicker leaves the construction site and starts the cycle of eating soil and laying micro-bots. Disolve to... Scene 8: More new clickers leave their construction sites. Scene 9: Microbot swarming across surface, forming new construction sites. Scene 10: Top down view as Clicker walks through Neil Armstrong's footprint, despositing micro-bots near the LEM leg. Scene 11: Micro-bots swarming over lower leg of LEM. Lem leg strut starts to become eroded and "lacey" looking as micro-bots strip away material. Scene 12: Long shot of LEM. Foreground swarms with clickers and micro-bots. In the background the LEM topples over as one leg gives way. Scene 13: Clickers are now forming knots, starting to work on something new. Scene 14: Micro-bots are also doing something new. Building seed pods. Scene 15: Another shot of Clickers building a long tube. In the background rows of completed seed pods are seen. Scane 16: another view of the same activity Scene 17: Pods are starting to pile up now. Several pyamid shaped piles are seen, and micro-bots swarm over the piles bringing more pods. Scene 18: Camera tracks backwards from one of the pipes under construction and beneath the camera are seen row after row of pipes under construction, all pointing slightly upward. Scene 19: Arial long shot of the landing region showing what little remains of the LEM vanishing beneath the thick swarm of micro-bots and clickers. A flash is seen at the end of one of the tubes. Then another and another. Soon the flashes come one after another, and then several simultaneously. (The music builds to an exciting frenzy) Scene 20: Close-up of the lower end of a tube. Micro-bot bucket-brigade moves pods to the tubes. They are loaded in, like cannon shells. Then the tube is fired. Camera pans toward upper end of tube. The Earth is seen rising over the moon's horizon and dozens of cannon flashes sparkle all around. Scene 21: View back at the cannon muzzles from space. Muzzle flashes and pods rush by. One pod rushes toward camera and blacks out the frame. Scene 22: Starts as black frame. Close-up pod rushes away from camera. Now we see the Earth in the background and MILLIONS of pods tumbling earthward. fade to balck... roll credits.
