Well, christmas is approaching .... lots of time to devote to creativity ....
who out there thinks it's time for another fun POVray competition? If you do 
then the harder question is obviously "what sort of competition?".
ps: I'm offering to run/manage it.

  It might be wise to not to just replicate an IRTC round (ie. by simply
assigning a certain topic but otherwise having a free compo). There could
be some interesting limitations or other twists (in similar ways as the
short code contests).

  Also note that while it's tempting to run the compo on the theme of
Christmas, there are people who don't care or even have a disliking about
that holiday, be it for religious or other reasons. It might be a good
idea to choose a more neutral topic for the compo.

I think something like a shortest code contest would be great, some 
technical restriction providing a special challenge.  Possible directions:

1) only allow the use of a certain primitive.
2) provide a certain object that has to be used in the submissions (this 
could be christmas specific).
3) provide a certain set of base scene elements (light source and camera 
for examle) that has to be used unmodified in the scene.  This could for 
example be a panorama view setup that is then rendered into an image for 
  a panorama viewer.
4) combine any of the above with a code size restriction.

Well then, in that case it really wouldn't be a "Christmas" competition. You
could call it a 'December' competition perhaps.

Frankly I would dislike seeing something get that PC. If the competition gets
a Christmas theme and someone doesn't like Christmas then they can just not
compete.

Sorry for the confusion, I wasn't actually suggesting "Christmas" 
being part of the theme, only that this time of year some of us
because of tradition may have spare time on our hands.
