There is a bug in the demo file pawns.pov that comes with POV-Ray. The
chess board is apparently made of a large pine box, with small rosewood
boxes embedded in it for the dark squares, but the top level of the
rosewood squares is the same as the pine box, so the texture is
speckled(coincident surfaces). The rosewood boxes need to be translated
upwards slightly.
