spline_tools.inc has some tools for extruding arbitrary shapes
along a path, using splines as the shape and path.
roller_coaster2.pov is a sample using Cdeaths coaster spline.

Here's a newer version of "spline_tools.inc"

Also some samples, "roller_coaster2.pov"
which calculates a mesh spline extrusion, and saves it.

And "roller_coaster3" which displays the mesh
created by "roller_coaster2.pov"
