IIRC, Suzuki's macro makes really impressive looking rope "right out of the
box".

As a directly related aside:

I don't know if we have a readily accessible Colefax macro repository, but I
don't recall seeing the Rigging.inc.

It would be nice if someone could post an archive of the complete Colefax
macros, and I can probably put it on my use page so that it's easy to find.

I was also searching some stuff and found a reference to John VanSickle's
reorient_trans macro in an academic paper! ( :D )

I had to use the WayBack Machine to access his old web page - so I'll probably
try to copy-paste those onto my page, so that they aren't lost in the sands of
time.

I guess I made a mistake somewhere and sent an attachment with my Chris
Colefax stuff directly to you instead of here. Sorry Bill :-/

That's what happens when one is out of the running for too long...

I would trade all of the Chris Colefax macros to see you here. :)

Welcome back. It's good to see you.
Wishing all the best for you.

<blush> That is very kind of you indeed, Bill; thank you very much! I
hope the Colefax files can be of some use to you. I have not looked at
them for ages.

We'll see how it goes... I am mostly watching from somewhere in the
background these days. RL takes its toll unfortunately.

Hi everybody, it almost feels like a reunion here.
Thanks for your kind words.

About rigging.inc:
When I was doing my Balclutha model, a Michael posted this link:

http://news.povray.org/povray.binaries.scene-files/thread/%3Cweb.42486f1f6c21491cacb32c570%40news.povray.org%3E/?ttop

which is a post from Tim McMurdo, containing the rigging_include.zip.

My link for the Chris Colefax website is:
https://www.oocities.org/ccolefax/index.html
which is a copy of his geocities website.

BTW, has anybody a 3D spline graphical editor for Povray? That would make
working with splines a lot easier, I hope.

While working on the bulwark I realized that the shape of the hull at the bow
was not correct, so I had to fix that.
That's all done now, so I can continue, and I will do the stanchions and white
panels now. Hopefully this week I can post some new images.

Cheers
Ton.

I am just reading the html file included with the rigging.inc file from Tim
McMurdo. He says "I decided to modify the LINK.INC file originally created by
Chris Colefax."
So mr. Colefax never made a rigging.inc, just a link.inc, for chains.

Cheers
Ton

Yes, that was my understanding as well.
Thanks for posting the link to rigging.inc. :)

I have only ever done a small bit of work with rope - a very long time ago, and
not very good.

Looking forward to seeing your progress!
