Hi,

I published my poor version of Povray code for A. Taha's Devil Plate at

https://news.povray.org/povray.binaries.scene-files/thread/%3Cweb.67eff108fc8a612c763e4a273b2af915%40news.povray.org%3E
/

and you see my comments there.

Fact is: the shape of the object is OK but thickness and details of the
structure are missing.

See attached image:
left: shape OK but far from AT's version
right: playing around with threshold and accuracy

Can someone give me a hint where my code is faulty?

All comments are welcome (except that I am too stupid)

Droj

Hi Droj,

the details of the structure in MathMod seems to be artifacts depending
on the number of nodes Abderrahman Taha uses to construct his mesh. If
you increase the number of nodes of the grid (tab "model details") you
get shapes similar to yours.

Best regards
Michael

Hi Michael,

thank you for the hint with the nodes of the grid.
I checked and you are right: higher values and the gaps disappear.

What's still missing is this thickness.
When you look at the rim of the upper part of my shapes it's thin like an
eggshell compared to AT's Devil Plate.

Thatiswhy I think there is a flaw in my code.
Nevertheless I'll keep investigating.

Kind regards
Droj
