I have been discussing a collection of scenes I am working on where moonlight is
the primary lighting source over in povray.general. Here is the first rendering
where there is only moonlight coming through a window with louvered blinds on a
chess table. I will post followups with the same scene adding more light
sources as they complete.

With this version, I opened a door in the room containing the chess table and
turned on a ceiling light in the hallway.

And here I turned on the overhead light in the room itself.

I find them pretty convincing indeed. Especially the moonlight. Maybe I
would prefer a scene where the moonlight would shine over a larger area
of the scene (floor, parts of wall, etc) leaving less pitch black
volumes of space in the scene, but I understand this is a wip and I wait
for further developments. Very promising indeed.

And finally, with the lamp on the end table turned on.

This is just one of the views, I'll be rendering some that show more of the
room, including some that show the shadow of the blinds on walls and floor.

The first image, the one without lights except the moonlight, is very
evocative: it evokes the atmosphere of crime movies of many many years ago.
Very nice images!

This is a view where I pulled back from the chess table a bit, which now shows
the side wall with a bookcase. You can see the moonlight hitting the bookcase
through the blinds. I used the same moonlight settings here as with the closeup
view. I am rendering the other versions as well.

A view of the scene where the window is out of sight, but you can see the
moonlight filtering against the wall and just barely reaching the couch.

Oh yes! Those two views are impressive indeed.
