About two and a halve years ago I showed my Stephenson's Rocket. Now I saw in a
Meccano Magazine a model done in Meccano. So I modeled some Meccano parts, and
bolted it all together. Here it is, enjoy!
Cheers
Ton.

Now, /that/ appeals to very ancient memories indeed!

A nice model, the image is crying out for some radiosity and maybe even HDR
lighting.

That looks pretty cool. I have a couple of the similar Russian "Engino" sets
that I bought for my son.

'Schuco'...

chest of Fischertechnik survived all the years in my cellar. May be I
modell the tiles when I have to retire in some years.
But Dinky Toys, Schuco and Matchbox were ready models (mostly cars)
sets IIRC.
Bets regards

Indeed, yes. But all te same, I was remembered of those other toys.
Schuco had those quaint, flexible wire, tracks, with junctions and
bridges. And there was a predecessor of Lego of which I don't remember
the name.
I still have a very old, wooden construction set which came from an
uncle of mine, and dating back to a bit more than a century ago. The box
cover is so scratched/broken that it is impossible to know /what/ its
name was originally. From some word fragments it seems to be German too.
