I was playing with emulating some ShaderToy work by Martijn Steinrucken and
managed to make it over the first big speedbump.
Testing the normal calculations with the equations for rectangular solids and
spheres helped speed things up and verify that the basic math was sound.
Using the normals from one surface to pigment another yielded some visually
interesting results as well.
