Yesterday I got an idea to visualize an older MRT scan of my brain region (27
image files with 640*640 pixels don't seem sufficient for a decent df3 or
isosurface).

With emitting media only and no radiosity or light_sources (beside a hdr for
reflections) speed was > 1000 PPS.
This is ok since I used some 'expensive' commands like dispersion, merge or a
max_trace_level of 255.

Next I want an animation of my self-image...

Too much information but a good image, never the less. :-)

Thank you - please give more information - is it irony or do you mean text,
image or brain visualization?

Creepy.

I am getting a CT scan in the next few weeks. Can I just give them a
thumbdrive and tell them to put the images on it?

Beautiful and creepy at the same time; and nice df3 work. A really cool image.

It's interesting that our eyeballs look like olives-without-the-pits in such
scans :-P

Here in the States, they have to have to provide you with your data in
some electronic format. It's the "P" part of the HIPAA law (which
everyone thinks means Privacy, but it doesn't.)

I'll tell my HIPAA story over in O-T. :)

Hi Mike,

the MRT scan was done in 2013. I just asked for it and a semiprofessional CD was
given to me 10 minutes after the scan. The technician wasn't really surprised
about my wish.
Good luck to you!

Is there a special tool to view these images with that is free to use?
(I mean, besides POV-Ray.)

If the images are png format of if you can convert them to a df3. Then
you can use Oosawa 4D Volume Viewer.

It was developed with PovRay in mind. And it can convert df3s to meshes.
Although the author calls them isosurfaces.

Very nice indeed. One has rarely the opportunity to look at one's own
innards. ;-)
