My latest addition to the artworks & concepts for my game project. Simply
referred as "resource", this ultimate matter is harvested throughout the galaxy
to be further processed and used in all levels of life; it is the key substance
to the synthetic body structure, space travel and survival in general, it is an
universal construction material, the base for technological innovations and the
source of energy in numerous applications since the early past and far to the
unknown future.

Total render time: approx. 22 mins

I love it, but I think there is a bit too much of focal blur.

That certainly depends on how small that ore sample is supposed to be.

If it's, say, 2x2x2 cm^3, then I think the focal blur is perfect.

What worries me more is that I think it vaguely resembles compressed
biowaste ;)

Personally I'm extremely happy with the heavier blur. Especially in this sci-fi
game project of mine, certain major hazyness adds to the distant feeling and
"out-of-this-worldness". A kind of an artistic trademark of mine. ;)

Yeah, my original idea was that this ore sample would be quite small, so tried
to get a kind of a macro-like view to it. =)

Now when thinking of it, I'm not even sure myself if this one is "before" or
"after". :D

FWIW, I like it as well. I get a sense that this is a relatively small
object because of it.

You're right. I had in mind something much bigger, like a rock.
