That's the problem with these alien invaders, they just aren't house trained..
In case you hadn't guessed this model is part of my TC-RTC entry, I don't like
to go for the obvious subject matter ;-)
The tripod is pretty much all CSG (if you include sphere's translated along a
spline as CSG that is?)
Pretty high radiosity settings but still the floor looks rather odd (doesn't
matter as this is just a test scene for the tripod).

Looks like it wants a higher count, due to a small bright spot on the
sky sphere.

Pretty awesome alien indeed. I wonder about its table manners...

Thanks, am running one now with a much higher count (and raised error_bound as
that was pretty low, 0.1) looks like it will be OK.
The lighting is a very bright HDR probe so not suprised by the artifacts.

Thanks Thomas, turned out more difficult to model than I thought it was going to
be (bevelling was a challenge that beat me on several occaisions, still those
sharp edges come in handy when you are taking over a planet).

Err.. have you actually seen my tc-rtc entry before I post it? this comment
could be saved for that image..

Lol. I am an alien myself, so I know ;-)

In some way, that floor looks like fluid, maybe like a kind of gell. The
undulations around the "feet" have a nice effect that many would *love*
to have around objects that enter a water body.

True, it would be difficult to achieve on purpose.

Damn... CSG? I made the same tripod , but in Blender. I think yours looks
better.

Thanks, trust me that if I had tried to model this in Blender (or any other
modeller) it would look a lot worse than it does. SDL/CSG is the only method I
am any good at, have never managed to master any of the others.
