Sometimes simple images are the best.  This looks good.

The thimble does look like it is floating or detached from the image.  Perhaps
not enough shadow at the base.  I assume you are using radiosity, bump down the
diffuse setting on it's material perhaps and rely more on reflective properties.

The wood table top, is it a procedural texture or an image map?  If it's
procedural, I'd like to know the coding.

Nice image! Great wood. Did you model the board texture
as well? The text looks strangely 3d-ish where it is blurred.
Maybe also try a less symmetrical view of the board?
