This is my first Poser model rendered by POVray and I can't seem to get rid
of the seams that show around the neck and limbs. In Poser, I exported the
model to obj format and converted the obj using PoseRay to POVray format.
The PoseRay documentation tells about "cleanup geometry" when loading a
Poser scene and also tells about "weld vertices" before smoothing. My
smooth options are "keep mesh creases" and "smooth mesh edges". The result
is the attached image. See the white lines around the neck and limbs? Is
there a way to get rid of these?
Thanks!

Hmm... I have to think about this. I have seen something similar sometimes
when using the face room, but that is obviously not the case here :-)
Is this a regular Poser figure? I ask because it can be a problem with the
figure. Some of the animal figures are too low resolution. How does it
render in Poser itself?

Sorry, it is the DAZ polar bear model which was positioned in Poser 7. It
looked OK in Poser, meaning it did not have the white seams. It looks 100
time better in POVray except for the seams. Note the seams appear to be
where the various parts meet. All work was done on a MacPro running
PoseRay under Parallels.
Thanks!

Allan,
Are you resizing the maps at export time? Looks like the maps were
scaled down too much and their white edges are starting to show.
Also for organic meshes as this one I would recommend un-checking keep
mesh creases. Does the bear look smooth if all the maps are removed?

Good question. Not specifically that I know of, I am still getting the hang
of Poser and PoseRay and all the various settings needed to move a model
into POV format. I will recheck it tonight to make sure that there isn't
some default setting that is resizing the maps.

I have not tried that variation but will tonight. This day job of mine sure
gets in the way of more important matters! :-)
Thanks!
