To answer my own question: the translate vector can go within the pigment
braces for map alignment. It makes no sense to setup a system that writes a
translate vector (to pigment), since parts will have to be centered anyway
for spherical and cylindrical mapping.

So far calculations have been 'ball park" values and manual fine tuning
seems to be needed, especially if double mapping with the once statement so
as not to over-map previous map.

Here the tail section is mapped a second time with the once statement to
cover the z-axis-plane streaks from planar mapping the sides previously.
One pixel to large (or begin too early) and it will streak down the side.

But (even without the second map) something strange, one side is missing
white pixels, other side accumulating white pixels. lighting/phong
incident?
