I'm getting back into POV after my standard 6 month hiatus and here is my
first attempt.

I need some advice on lighting. I seem to have trouble getting the floor to
stay lit enough without resorting to using a shadowless white fill light. I
feel like I am doing something wrong. Any advice on light setups?

Also, I tried rendering at 1200x1200 and scaling in GIMP to 600x600, but I
still can't get the image to look non-jaggie. Any pointers on decent aa
techniques?

Nice image,especially given a 6 month break. If I ever stop and come back
after even a short time I always have to create some really poor images
before getting something worthwhile out.

Out of interest how did you go about making the weaved bits in between the
supporting frame.

What's the diffuse value on the plane? That would be my first guess at the
problem.

Nice pic and nice concept, but it doesn't look like a mobius strip to me. If
I follow one of the rows with the eye/finger/pen, after a complete turn I
end up exactly at the starting point. A mobius strip would make me reach
the other "face" after a complete turn.

Concerning AA, I assume you already tried rendering with +aa0.0 +am2? If
rendering at a higher resolution doesn't solve the problem you could apply
a little blur in the Gimp. Press V, make sure blur is selected, select an
opacity of at most 50%, and paint on the most jagged areas. If you want to
apply it on a straight line, press shift and you'll see a visor linking the
last clicked pixel to the current mouse position.

I created the object in TopMod ->

It has a bit of a learning curve, but you can make some really neat stuff
with it.

You are absolutely correct. I just had no idea what else to call it.
Wirefram Rotating Thingy I guess :)

I actually did not use the built in aa as I remember reading several posts
regarding the technique of rendering a picture at 2x size and then
downsizing it in GIMP or PS and getting better results. I am not really
getting anywhere with my attempts so I will a) try your suggestion
regarding blur in GIMP, and b) rendering with aa in POV again.

Actually the technique of doubling the size will work best if you already
have some antialiasing in, so you should use some aa (or focal blur
considering you have a simple plane/background). It's quite unlikely to get
better results with  a bigger render that uses no aa, unless you blow the
render up to some absurd resolution which would inevitably slow the render
to a crawl.

	+A0.1 +AM2 +R3 (in fact, for your picture +R2 might be enough). Do
not use +A0.0 as it will slow the render down for no real gain
