This is an image I've been working on off and on for about a month. I have
hopes to develope this into a much more complete image with more trees and
plant life inside the garden (and hopefully a waterfall), but I decided to
go ahead and post a WIP image. I'd love to know what you think so far.

Disclaimer: Yes, there is some slight post-processing in this image for the
lighting.

Nice. Looks more like a "Keep Out" than an invitation to me, tho. :-)

The glare, while possibly realistic, seems to detract from the image.

I agree - leave the gate slightly open for an "invitation" feel. Looks
great otherwise.

Uh, looks like a lot of potential for a very nice image! As the others
said, opening the door a bit would make the invitation part clearer.
Something like entering a secret/magic garden perhaps? And although you
probably want to use the light to focus on the garden I'd recommend to
make the outside a bit brighter, too -- it's hard to see anything in the
foreground.

Florian

Yes, I should have mentioned that I certainly planned on having the gate
open in the final image.

I think my main frustration right now is with trying to get decent enough
looking trees. I've tried POVTree, NgPlant, and even my own tree macro and
I can't seem to get anything I like. Does anybody have some tips on getting
some quality looking trees?

I know, I have been playing Lord of the Rings Online, but that style is
what I see here.
This is a very nice render.

I'm not so sure about opening that gate!
You have the wonderful symmetrical wrought-iron tree, with the suggestion of
the invitation behind it.
The hint of oasis behind the gate is what will be so inviting - if not
accessible.
