Lets see...  completely reworked the head, re-uv-mapped and re-textured from
scratch, looked at lots of whippet photos.  It's not the most flattering
camera angle, but if I'm trying to create a model rather than an image, the
one that shows the flaws is better.  Next on the list is to fix up the paws,
ears, and maybe even add hair.  The only hair now is noise in GIMP with a
little motion blur.

What can I say? Great job! The fur looks very good. I wonder if adding 
"real" fur will improve the model....

   I tried it on a mouse object some time ago, and was quite pleased with 
the outcome.

Thanks for the suggestion though.  I assume it would need some degree of
modification to work with mesh2?  No, I guess the solution would be for me
to just do the work and make a regular mesh out of it.  Time for POV may
become short, so we'll see.  It might be more worthwhile to actually make a
scene out of it.

It is made to work with mesh2.
The mesh compression tool output a mesh2, and the hair growth is made to work 
with that.

This is a really great model, one of the best animal models I have seen
rendered in POV. Makes me wish I had the patience to sit and learn either
Wings or Blender you just can't do organic shapes with CSG. Adding hair
would be great if you can get it looking realistic, although the texture
looks pretty good as it is (apart from the front legs which look a bit too
shiny).

There are lots of tutorials out there, although many are not specific to
Wings3d.  These are just a couple examples which were similar to one I went
through.  I just started with a box, cut it in half, turned on a virtual
mirror, formed the general shape, and then added detail.  It takes time to
get a good model, but it really doesn't take much time to learn.  CSG sure
has its advantages too but you're right about the organic shapes.
