Hello Everyone,

I'm finally getting back into things by finding some topics. I wish the
IRTC was back... it gave me something to do.

Anyway, I created this little image for "This Is Not A Checkered Plane" and
decided to show you guys. It's nowhere near done, and I didn't have
radiosity on, but it's a start.

Any comments and critique would be helpful.

Nice image indeed! The Height_field looks like some kind of draped cloth. I
bit of ground fog would help to give some depth to the scene.
BTW, TINACheP continued with the topic "Before and After" (deadline end of
April) so you still have time to find inspiration for that one too :-)

Personaly, I would add some rotation to the checker pattern, and maybe a bit of
turbulence to.
As it is now, it looks a little like the ground was made from two different images.

Wow, it feels very simple... but its very beautiful. Elegant. :-)

I can only imagine what it will look like when its "done". ;-)

You know you've been raytracing too long when you actually read all the
documentation that comes with programs.

Thanks for the info. I added some Turbulence in the checkered ground plane,
but it didn't look like it was enough. I thinned out the clouds and am
preparing to add some atmospheric media as well. The focal blur wasn't as
good as I hoped, I'll increase it to make it better. Oh, the stone isn't
in the right place as well, but I'll fix that as well. I also removed
radiosity... it was a piece of crap on this image. It over saturated
everything way too much and slowed the render down.

I'm just not looking forward to another 4 hour render to tweak these things.
I can't wait until I get my pc... it'll be much faster to fix things.

I think the out-of-focus stone is too distracting now to be useful. It
destroys the general feeling.

BTW, 4 hours is not so long. I sometimes have to wait for 24 hours... Time
for doing other things :-)

4 hours is nothing :p. I had an inspiration and loaned Torinet from Torf
again...

 11:19:40 Rendering line 295 of 768, 45396 supersamples, 356050 rad. samples

Only prob is that this ain't getting right, so I'll have to re-trace it.
