Moin,
I try to make the LEGO-Technic Silver Champion (8458) in POV-Ray.
It's a lot of work to make every stone with CSG, but at the moment I have
nearly 30 different stones (some of them are macros, so I can make the
stones in different length)
I still try to find the right texture for the stone. At the moment, they're
too reflective.
Later when the modell is ready, I will animate it...

Hi,
great work so far. I do know from my own experience that re-inventing the
wheel can be quite educating and fun, BUT: are you aware of the
Lego-Library made by Anton over at http://www.antonraves.nl/downloads.php ?
Most of the stones that ever existed in nearly all colors that were ever
used, that MIGHT even solve your texture issues ...
Greetings
Karl

I like re-inventing the wheel :D
But Anton made only the normal LEGO and not LEGO-Technic. The LEGO-Technic
stones are quite different and a bit more complex then the normal stones.
In the world-wide-web I found only one person other person, who made some of
the LEGO-Technic stones with POV-Ray, but his stone are not as detailed as
my stones.
PS: Jo, mit Norddeutschland liegts du Goldrichtig :D Ich komm aus Hamburg,

I thought so :-)
re-inventing the wheel makes you understand precisely why it turns ...

Didn't know that; I hadn't checked his library in detail.
Have fun !

Looks great! It's always fun to see Legos done in Pov-Ray.
Your English is fine. ;-) It's way better than my German...

Nice detailing! I've thought about doing LEGO models myself, but never
really gotten around to it.
I was wondering why you were calling the pieces 'stones', then I realised I
would call them 'bricks'.
Are the bricks meshes or CSG?

Thx!
Stones...bricks...for me it's all the same :D Ok, now i will call them
bricks :-)
The "bricks" are all CSG. I only used cylinder, box, superellipsoid and
torus, nothing else.

Sorry, but you're not quite correct - Anton Raves' library contains also
Lego Technic bricks - look for bricks with the string "tech" in their
names.
