It's been a long time since I posted an image here. I just discovered
GeoControl, a very nice terrain generator, and thought I'd post one of my
experiments. The ground fog is not very realistic, unfortunately scattering
media rendered too slowly. This one uses a mix of emittive and absorbtive
media and took 16 h on a 3.6 GHz P4 at 2800x2100 pixels. Terrain made with
GeoControl, trees with POV-Tree.
Best regards, Christoph

Just beautiful, and nice composition/pov. Worth the 16 hours.

Hi Christoph,
Good to see one of your images here, this is a very well composed scene. I
think the ground fog looks pretty good, I never seem to be able to get the
turbulent effect with ground fog that you always manage to achieve. Is
there some setting I have not found yet because turbulence just doesn't
seem to make much difference with fog when I use it..
Great picture.

Very cool image. Like the dragons, too.

Very Nice! I like the subject matter. Did you make the dragons?

Really beautiful !
So immersive that bits of stories come immediately to mind when looking
at it.

The fog is not plain ground fog but planar media contained in a box of
approx. the same size as the terrain. With fog I can't get any visible
turbulence effect too. If somebody is interested I can upload the source
code.
The dragon is not mine, it is the Wyvern model for Poser from DAZ that I
converted to mesh2{} with Pose-Ray. I allways use the Poser/Pose-Ray combo
for humans and creatures so I forget to mention sometimes.
Best regards,
Christoph

I am certainly interested!
GeoControl is an interesting program. I downloaded the demo version this
morning. In combination with World Machine the results can be terrific!
I mus say that these generation height_field generators go beyond the
Leveller possibilities I believe, and they are fast.

O.K., I just posted the important parts of the source at p.b.s-f.
