OK, so the scene is crap. I hate the walls. The table is minimalistic.
The CDs and Newton's Cradle are all right, but I didn't model those
(the CDs are Rune's, I believe, and I got Newton's Cradle off of
POV-World). They're just for scale, anyway.
I just had an idea for a monitor that I wanted to try, and that's what I
did. Personally, I love the idea, and I'd love to get a screen like
this. I showed it to Kimberly, and she hated it, though :(
FYI, the screen is 32 inches across, and 18 inches down (16x9 ratio),
meaning it would be considered a 37" monitor. That's a beast, but a
beautiful one, IMO :)

I'll take three!
I think the table matches the monitor fine, both very utilitarian.
Personally, the green checkered floor would bother me more then the
striped walls. At least I think the floor looks green, from the
reflections in the table legs.
The screen looks like it has some substantial depth to it, like 1/4
inch? I could see that being troublesome if the lights in the room were
at the wrong place, causing someone some distraction.
I could only suggest a laser keyboard, or holographic mouse to match.

Yes, it's a green / white checker. I threw the room together in about
15 minutes, which is why I went with the simple patterns.

Yes, 1/4 inch is exactly the thickness. What would you suggest, 1/8"?
1/16"? No matter what the thickness is, though, placing the lights
wrong will mess things up.

Well, first I need to add some cords, and then work on the screenshots
(I'll probably use media for the next version, right now I'm using
actual text objects and an image_mapped box, both inside the screen).
It's hard to say what kind of keyboard or mouse would work best with a
system like this; I think I would prefer it to just remain a
touch-screen system, as anything else seems too clunky for it :)

It's a book by Rudy Rucker called _The Hacker And The Ants_
Full of cool near-future VR hardware and software, etc. Your screen
reminds me of the Spex system he uses for shared VR work.

Make it curved, this will help with the light reflections, and also will be
more comfortable to use. Also I assume it has an anti-reflection coating
;-)

Nah you don't want cords, wireless power and data is the way to go!

:-) did you see my post on p.off-topic on the 29th about IBM's new
screen technology?
Think you could do it if you combined a plasma(adds light) with an
LCD(subtracts light) although I'm heading way off topic.
