Some apples modelled in Blender and rendered in POV-Ray with HDRI.
The apples are UV mapped with some textures I made in Photoshop.

Nicely shaped fruit. The textures are close but seem at little
homogenous somehow. I feel like you need to boost the resolution and
add more colour depth to them.

For some reason, I was expecting some transparent computer cases... I
think there might be something wrong with me.
I like the image though. Simple, yet... somehow appealing.

Hi Jim, Thanks, yes, you're right, except I took longer than I really wanted
to get them this good. It's not just making the textures in Photoshop, but
also getting the finish right in POV. I had to stop at some point. :)

Good work, Janet!
I really should plunge one day into Blender seriously :-(
If only for curiosity to see how things are done, but more specifically, I
think, for the uv-mapping...
Aren't the apples a bit too shiny?? Or maybe you polished them really good
before taking a snapshot :-)

hmm, those are nice. But i have to say that my favorite apples are still an
oldie:

A classic ever since in my favwallpapers section. Seems like Jaime also
re-rendered the scene these days in a larger resolution and in povray3.6
(the original was megapov) to somewhat mixed results:

in particular, i wonder what happened to the pumpkin texture and to the
shadow lines in the fruit next to the toaster...
