still evolving - now mostly happy with this image, except it needs more
interest in the foreground, and I am still rendering with low AA and quick
radiosity settings while I get the scene right.

Great level of detail. Spooky lighting, almost like a "Close
Encounters" type scene.

Stormy weather expected?

Wow, it's looking very good. I especially like the water, which has good
depth and good reflection. You also managed to make the building look
irregular- not all that easy with any cg structure.
Good work!

Looking good so far. I really like the lighting on the wooden building.

Congrats Joanne! point of view and lighting are very good, don't know why
but for sure it comes from south hemisphere (sun position+eucalyptus
grove?)

I find it peaceful.
Some stars?

Yes, really.

At first I wanted to congratulate for the great star sky but
then I realised that it's actually my monitor which is covered
with heavy dust reflecting in the sun...

Very Nice, better than I've ever managed.
Thoughts (Picky Points).
the shadow on the building seems to be coming from a couple of individual
leaves as opposed to whole trees, might be worth moving the light source
further away.
the broken board on the front of the building is a really cool touch. I'd
suggest adding the same type of character to the hand-rail, perhaps a bit of
sagging.
I think the posts supporting the walkway are a little too clean, you need to
add some grubbyness.
The plants at the waters edge are well placed but they seem a little
uniform. Might be worth adding some reeds or tall grasses in amoungst them
to break up the sameness.
the leaves on the trees above the flat roof look a little artificially
coloured, is there an ambient setting there that needs to be zeroed out?
the bases of the trees on the right look cut-off.
Excellent water! Love the idea of seeing throught the building!
I'd like to see a bigger version.

The low sun angle and mottled shadows on the building are VERY nice
additions to your scene. A beauty.
