reflective stool over checkered plane
I made this stool about 5 years ago when I was working on a
rendering of the place where I worked at the time, and recently dug it out.
I never got good with lighting or texturing... The 2 point light sources
don't show the curvature top of of the cussion at all. I'd like for this
to have bolts holding the circular tubes and legs together, but that
doesn't seem simple ;-) Would iso surfaces be a good way to make the
necessary indentations in the tubing?

Very retro. Nice job. Are the legs sphere_sweeps?

Do you you mean, for the bolts? Or for where the legs meet the circular
rungs? If the latter, subtracting torus objects from the legs at those
points would look quite nice. (I guess the torii would have to be distorted
in some way, so that the indents didn't go all away around the leg tubes.)

Thanks They're torii and cylinders... That was the probably the hardest
part for me... figuring out how to calculate it so everything would line
up.

I think there are bolts that have a rounded head and go in from the outside
so that the nut is inside/under the stool. But on the outside, I think the
tubing had kindof an indentation to make room for the head of the bolt, so
the head was "kindof" flush with the tubing. Not sure sure if that makes
any sense.

Once again this is *not* a ray traced image, just a reference picture.
Doesn't look like you need bolts... mine are just welded at the
intersections.
