Believe it or not, this started out as a scene in the Tuileries and quickly
morphed into an Australian swamp. Will probably end up as the PoVComp 2006
entry, given my normally glacial pace in developing scenes. Still to come
are a fishing heron, some more shrubbery, and more realistic nardoo (that's
the floaty green stuff in the water -
http://www.mdbc.gov.au/education/encyclopedia/wildlife/flora/nardoo.htm)).
Credits to Christoph Hormann for realistic water and explaining trace,
Victor Lohmueller for the basic reed code and Thomas de Groot for sand
textures.

Developing nicely. Too bad this copy has so much jpg artifacting. I
like the trees. I fidn the dappled light on the reeds to be the most
troublesome area, personally.

Quite nice - looks gloomy, almost like a scene from Fangorn forest in the
Lord of the Rings...

Europeans started to colonise the Australian continent; the Australian
landscape then started to colonise the European mind...

Best of luck, Joanne!

Truly, Christoph is the POV Water Wizard.
PS. I know this scene is supposed to be dark, but I have to give it a gamma
boost of about 1.5 to see the details. What gamma settings are you using?
PPS. Please post a version with less jpeg artifacts, use quality of 85% or
better.
