Bathsheba Grossman has an impressive handle on 3D modelling for sculpture.
Take a look at the history of Antipot at
http://www.bathsheba.com/sculpture/antipot/history.html
In my experience she is quite approachable (she answers emails) and may be
prepared to release some data. Some is available for download on her site.
She works in a variety of autocad / fab programs.
