Trying to make some crystals The interior is just scattering media, no fade
color. Trying to figure out a good way to get rid of the red where the
media hits the surface, any ideas?

What red? I see none in the image.

If you're referring to scattering's behaviour that the opposite color will
appear in the "shadowed" region of the media, then here's my approach: use
scattering without any extinction whatsoever, and add an absorption media
into the same media{}-statement. This way, you can influence the color
better.

Tim

Its the nature of crystals to be orderly to perfect. This looks more like
something moulded with muck in it. If it's meant to be crystalline then drop
the swirlies. Unpolished mineral crystals have torn up surfaces but often
near-perfect interiors with perhaps a few inclusions.

The idea wasn't to make something like a precious gem but more along the
lines of a translucent crystal with veins such as quartz, which I've seen
many similar to this but not in blue.
