Hi, guys

I know this is primitive (as well as unfinished), but I kinda liked this
image, so I decided to post it. I've been trying to learn POV for a couple
of months now (with a lot of breaks)...and this is the extent of my skills
for far. Comments welcome.

This does not meet the requirements for "First Post". A First Post image
must contain a reflective sphere over a checkered plane. Nothing more,
nothing less. Your post has something reflective, and is over a
checkered plane, but is clearly not a spherical reflective thing. ;)

Now that thats out of the way....

Nice image :) Welcome to the group!

Is it CSG, Isosurface or blobs or a combination?

I vote that we count the head as a reflective sphere ;)

I agree. It's *much* nicer than what I'd been able to produce after
only a couple of months...

We must be very strict about these things. The next thing you know
people will be posting reflective tetrahedrons over striped planes as
valid first post images ;)

I like a lot. Nice and simple, yet sophisticated.

Yeah! Or worse: checkered spheres over reflective planes! I cannot bear
them!!

And I thought I might get away with it. Aww, well... ;)

Seriously, thanks a lot for replying, the cube is an isosurface with a
function I got from mathworld called the Chmutov surface. The basic shape
for the wings is a blob with a lot of CSG done on it.

I scoff at your so called standards! In these enlightened times, we cannot
confine ourselves to mere spheres and checkered planes. We must embrace the
excluded and forgotten geometric shapes, starting the the tetrahedrons! And
most important is to extend beyond checkered planes, for they can only lead
to plaid and funny golf pants.

Haha! Freedom!
