Greetings everyone.
Been watching the discourse for a while, and there's some fantastic work on
show here. I thought I'd make a humble contribution along the usual lines.
Reflective balls on a checkered plane - check!
I'm reasonably proud of this, considering I knocked it up in less than 2
hours. The ground plane and the shadows could definitely be better, but I'm
still learning how to use isosurfaces and this is only my second ever
attempt at using radiosity!
Anyway, njoy
Bill

Funny concept, I like it.
There are some black artifacts on the reflective balls, maybe they'll
disapear if you increase the max_gradient value in your isosurfaces

Not bad! Did you use HDRI or just a high reflection value?

reflection { 1.0 } ambient 0 diffuse 0 ...and a bit of phong. Black pigment,
of course. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I know what HDRI is...!

I'm not sure myself, but it seems to enable you to do ultra-realistic
reflections. Yours looked like an implementation of that. Nice image,
still.
