So I got bored and kicked this out all quick like. For those of you
unfamiliar, it's a recreation of an MC Escher engraving by the same name.
I know I need to do something with the ground planes and the sky (I'm
working on an image map for the sky right now but not sure of a good way to
do the ground yet) but I'm not sure about the textures and lighting for
everything else. Any comments/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Well, that certainly is very Escher-like. I shall have to dig-up the
engraving to compare. From memory, it seems to me that you got the light
about right, which is not easy as there are three different orientations.
The wood of the horn could be somwhat finer grained I suppose. The copper
for the sculpture is a good choice although the engraving is in black and

I like the idea to have the sky and ground in 3 different orientations.
May be you could use a high field for ground model, but you may have an
issue with the ground seen from top (I don't like HF when they are too
close to the camera).
For symmetry, I would add an inverted arc on the left wall, or better,
remove one from the right one and reorient the floor, did you try it?
I'm waiting for your next post.

I like this a lot.
The original Escher has a sort of cratered moon surface doesn't it?
I'm sure I've seen postings on how to achieve that.

I imagine, given that the image looks like it's been scanned (and therefore it
looks like Alain owns a copy of the image), it could be argued that this would
fall under fair use. However, the safer bet would be to link to the image, I
suppose.

From that website: 'Reproductions taken out of a book are not
permitted, as this constitutes a copyright violation of the publisher.',
but I agree with you.

"Any reproduction of his work, including downloading..."
So the link would be useless ;-)
