I was running this image at lower resolution before bed last night and was
so pleased with the results that I decided to render at a larger
resolution. I feel as though I have reached the point that my good images
are no longer an accident. I can now start to think about real composition.
Also, I need to start thinking about adding land and other objects such as
seagulls. Of course I also need to return to finishing the ship.
I plan on more modelling this weekend but will render another version of
this image with decent AA starting Sunday evening.
As always I very much value your comments and suggestions for improvement.

Somehow the composition makes me think that the ship is rather small. How
come it creates so much light?
however..... good pic you got there!

The sun is setting to our backs. This is what is lighting up the sails.

Maybe the curving shadows are caused by the extra-wide angle lens.
I really like the sunset lighting, would like to see the ship more.
The clouds look great, but the light blue streaks of color in the
water look unnatural.
Seagulls are so common, how about some flying fish or something,
and maybe a volcano in the distance (just finished "Beat to Quarters"
so I'm thinking South America).

Thanks for the compliments. I will render some images onboard the ship in
the future.

Now that you point them out...I'm wondering if I have a problem with
overlapping media containers. I will experiment a little to find out.

Very nice clouds... and I like the lighting too. A bit more detail on the
ship will make this a REALLY nice image.

I agree: great image, a little too much light on the boat.
If you're having trouble with media containers overlapping, try merge{}ing
them together. (Just a hunch, dunno if it will help.)
