I'm getting back into raytracing after having played with DKBTrace many many
years ago. Here is the requisite reflective sphere on a checkered plane. It
was sunset when I rendered this, so I mounted a few extra lights for
illumination. :-)

And a subtle reference to Pixar, perhaps :)

That sphere looks like it just landed.

Yeah, I thought about having cords on the lamps. But then I decided to try
to make it look more like a tourist attraction. You can't tell unless you
look close closely (at least at this resolution), but there are hex bolts
mounting the lamp bases to the ground. So, no, it didn't just land - it's a
permanent attraction. It's just been extremely well maintained.
