Two ships that came out of the same basic poly form. I could not make up my
mind which way i wanted the shape to be going so I built two. I still like
both but the one with the slits for engines is my favorite.

I am looking for detail ideas. What should be add next to make them more
real. This will help with all the others i have. I have a lot. I should
post them here I guess.

Thanks in advance.

I used Lightwave to model them but I used Poseray to subdivide and output to
povray.

With poseray's ability to subdivide any program can be used to produce good
shapes.

Are those grooves modeled or is that a bump map?

Their modeled.

I cut a line of polys then bevel down in a curve bay a small amount. I
normaly use 3 divisions in the bevel. It has sharp edges until subdivided in
poseray.

How about some hatch outlines (thinner than the panel breaks), insignia and
stencils
(like you see on fighter aircraft) and dirt ? The surfaces have a somewhat plastic
look and feel.
Also, maybe a litle bit of trancparency added to the windows to make them look less
like the rest
of the exterior.
Otherwise, great looking ships.

Chris

thanks! I am not sure how much of the surfave I want to break up. The
insignia and stencils idea is great. the dirt is too. I will work on both.

Mine too. But i think it should be turned 180 degrees on Y axis, so the
slits should be the difuser for the engines (to refresh them) and the pilot
cab should stay on the same place (back). The ship then should be like a
rounded and plane cone.

And ... where can i download it ? I need good models for animations. I
always leave animations because i dont have models. If you are going to
share plz make some documentation and make it configurable (like colors
....).

Anyway good models.
