Hi,

Here I tried to make a bamboo.. using a hyperboloid_Y scaled to some value
(I am using PovRay 3.5). But I am not sure why it looks so pixelated. I
never tried to change the ini files of Pov and I thought I should probably
be doing it. But when I see scenes made by some example files they are
always smooth (most of them though are not scaled when they are encoded).
Is the scaling of an object affecting the pixelation/resolution of an
output image? I tried even changing the output resolution (something in 2
to 3 Mpixel .. but its just the same!).

I will put the code in another post to this thread (Its a nice code :)).

Sincerely,
Jose Capco

Ok here is the code! BTW, I think I like the texture I gave (I hacked a wood
texture from one of the wood texture in Povray texture includes). I
appreciate any help or suggestions.

Perhaps just add

+a0.03 +am2 +ar2

to command line (in Win32 gui - textbox next to [320x240], in linux - in
PovRAY command line)

Just try antialiasing. This will need more rendering time though, but
it's worth it. For the linux version (for as I only know this one),
    povray +A0.3 your-file.pov
is a good start. For really high antialiasing settings (and render
time), use +A0.0 +AM2 ;)

As others have said, it's anti-aliasing that you want. For detailed
information on this, go to http://povray.org/documentation/view/3.6.1/223/
and scroll down to "2.1.2.8.4 Anti-Aliasing Options".

Thanks you, I love you all :D .. you guys are the best. Although I don't try
to understand all the parameters in the antialiasing for povray I benefited
a lot from the help. I will try to understand more of it later (I'm just in
a hurry as my deadline to finish my work is before the end of this month).

As a bonus let me show part of my work (now with the beautiful antialiasing
effects :D ..) .. It's gonna be finished soon and I'm going to put in my
website for more details....

(See below)...

Pretty good for a 2nd povray art :D .. If there's an anime fan around there,
I'm sure you know who the person in the picture is :) ... I'll also put up
the codes and the patch for the human figure in the website. Things that I
am finishing or reworking are : the arm for the right hand, the famous
cross-shaped scar of this famous character :D, creases and folds on the
shirt (maybe I'll try to use gimp on this also), a better skin texture for
the character (hope someone out there has some good ones), real hairs with
hanging top (I think I better do this on a photo editor like gimp), sky sun
and the ocean as background (I did terragen and forester combo) and more
leaves and branches for the bamboo.

Any suggestion and comment for the scene is much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Jose Capco

Oh really? shocks! I didn't thought someone would think it that way.. but to
be honest it's supposed to look like the 2D one below. He is kinda girlish
looking but don't worry he is really a "he" :)

Actually the 3D doesn't completely resemble it, but I will try to work on
that when I got the time. I just don't want to make so big-eyed like it
looks in the 2D image.

I see the similarities, but your version looks like an old man. I think the
hair needs work, and textures that are less plastic looking. But good
modelling regardless.
