Test render of the new background for my IRTC image.

I think I've been successful in getting the wall to look aged but what do
you all think?

It looks like parts of the wall have been scraped and chipped,
which is very good, but the individual bricks look a bit regular
in shape and color, and the wavy mortarlines look a bit unnatural.
Staggered mortarlines might look more real, though more work to
implement.

It's difficult to make small bricks like this look like bricks,
and you've overcome that problem well. But you might try varying
the individual brick's size and position. To me these don't look
like individual bricks, but more like a pattern. Aging individual
bricks by chipping off corners and such would make the wall look
older, and areas of patched mortar might also show it's age.

You may be going for a certain look and happy with accomplishing
that, but if you do individualize the bricks, a light source nearly
parallel to the wall would create some nice contrast and shadowlines
that would enhance it's brickyness.

Good luck with your entry!

Good point, I'll have a look at the code again and see if I can change the
sizes and positions a bit more. It's a bit harder chipping individual bricks
to order but again I'll try and as for the mortar patching - Excellent point
and not too hard to implement.

Thanks, and if you're also entering the same wishes to you.
