A strange line has appeared on the bottom spheres gah!

Ah well it was fun working out the positions of everything and besides the
texture needs tweaking. Next one will be a close up looking into the
centre of the bunch, should take a goodly time to render :)

Thanks I just fancied somethng simple that would involve a different type
of math to something else I'm (still) working on. Didn't realise just how
long it would take to render thanks to some system restarts and crashes.

Debating whether to pull it apart to find what's causing that darker patch
or pushing on with putting the camera+light closer so I can see inside,
nah I'll go for the close-up.

> Looks like varnished brass

Had it in stock from an old texture tester I did.

#declare SphereTexture1=texture{pigment{rgb <0.2, 0.2, 0.2>}
finish{diffuse 0.7 brilliance 6.0 reflection 0.6 phong 0.8 phong_size 120}}
#declare SphereTexture2=texture{pigment{rgbf <0.7, 0.6, 0.25, 0.5>} finish
{diffuse 0.7 specular 0.2 roughness 0.5 brilliance 6 reflection 0.15}}

#declare SphereTexture=
texture{
granite
texture_map{
[0.0 SphereTexture2]
[1.0 SphereTexture1]
}}

Applied to the entire object in case you wanted to give it a whirl. Still
needs some tweaking, but doesn't it always :)

That's bizarre.

Hurts to even think about that kind of render time. All of those
reflections. Still, look cool. Approaching photo-real poly art.

Yeah, I'll try running it from scratch minus the rca file and see what
happens, in the meantime...

...I'm running one from just the other side of the first big sphere so
you're looking inside; so you've got the reflections from the reflections
from* :) The one I posted took about a week to render, it would have taken
longer but after all the system restarts I cheated and switched on the
fast Radiosity settings. I'll try rendering the internal one with the
default and see what happens.

Thanks it turned out better than I thought it would.

* 320x240 Fast Radiosity and it's at 47 minutes for 5 lines post-mosaic
156440 radiosity samples and I only wanted to check the camera position :).

 That's nice Phil - I like. :)

 Is it not the shadow of the sphere you have in front of your object? Or am
I seeing things...?

Thanks

The spheres are contained within an open-ended box which is itself
contained with a box with a hole cut in for the 'window' that's being
reflecting, after I've done a view from inside I'll start stripping it
down it's probably one of those that's blocking the light.

Is not it a continue_trace or a rerun with +sr taking new radiosity data?
Or a continue with a different version of POVRay?
