Think you need to make the back of the keyboard higher, so its more like the
old style typewritersw

Pretty cool- now just apply wrinkle paint to the metal keyboard frame to
give it that old look, and gold leaf classic lettering, and one other thing- a
box in the back with those tubes, maybe about 12 of them, that says "binary
encoder" on it.  There should be a big, honking cable running from the keyboard
to that box...

Actually the keyboard isn't complete, I just couldn't
figure out how exactly to neatly arrange the arrow
keys and number pad on the right...and this is just the
keyboard, I plan on making lots of ornate clunky
components and cable them all together.  Need to make
a jointed arm for the monitor, too.

1890? -- Ooookay, then I would expect a "1..." key and a "A..." key for
5-channel punched paper tape code, black wrinkle paint, old-fashioned
window on the windows key, old-fashioned letters, no sharp corners, a
BIG power supply with stacked selen rectifiers (or bulbs), a power cord
with textile surface and perhaps some wooden parts.

And don't forget to show us the device to which your keyboard will be
connected ...

Nice idea but..

Are those tubes supposed to stand for indicator leds? That doesn't make
sense for a couple of reasons. I would use small bulbs.

Also, wood and brass (even bakelite for later) might be better choice of
materials. Right now it looks like plastic.
