I decided to redo this scene since I had lost everything on my hardrive
shortly after I posted the previous one in 2007....
The sax was from Steve. Sadly he would never see the finished product.
The renders are taking very long on my 2.6 GHz Quad-core machine. Still
have a lot to do on this one. A silly mistake on the window on the last
render. I still want to add the inside of the club visible though the
window.

After burning guitars, you get burning basses!

This is really excellent; great composition, colors and character poses. The
'energy' of the scene is immediately apparent. I think I like the first image
best (#3); the more accentuated haze from the back-light adds greatly to the
feeling of the scene, IMO.
Definitely one of the nicest renders I've seen in awhile.

Very good indeed. The musicians attitudes are strikingly lifelike.
Perfect atmosphere.

It will further slow down your rendering, but this scene definitely
needs an additional Jimmy Smith banging away on his Hammond B3! No
Hammond - no jazz!
See you in Khyberspace!

Really nice fire, too.
In the second image (#4), there are some strange details back behind the fire
can--not just the section of Roman column(!), but something that looks like it
has teeth or tentacles, with an open mouth. What *is* that thing??

Dustbins and a sunflower.
The "eyes" are just reflections of the flames...
I was actually trying to use dustbins to create something surrealistic
that resembles a drummer... :S

Jimmy Smith busking... hmm....
I'm not sure if these amateurs could keep up with him though...
