Do you mean a HOCKEY horn?
At least, it images I got from a search for "vuvuzela" look exactly like
a hockey horn. For a time, I though that it was the name of some Foot
rising star.
I agree that they are loud, but not THAT loud...

Been around forever in my area. Born and raised in the backyard of the

atom to profesional, without at least one in the arena.

Strangely enough, the term "hockey horn" seems pretty unknown for this
instrument. Google finds a lot more references for the term apparently
referring to a device installed in the arena and sounded when a goal is
scored.

One?

Lucky bastards. In the South African soccer arenas, "one" appears to be
the average number /per person/ (with the arenas having about twice or
thrice the capacity of the Centre Bell). And they just... won't... stop.

(And yes, they _are_ pretty loud in the hands of someone who knows how
to play them properly.)

They are much louder than a cars hooter or even a trucks hooter....
