Hello.
This object was rendered to be used on a small advertisement calendar
card. Then I looked at it again and saw it is good enough to become a
separate scene itself. So, I re-rendered it with good quality and
corresponding environment to post. And now I proudly present The Small Pump!
I will be glad to receive any comments. And will be happy to share the
source, if anybody interested.
And now it is time for some technical description. The object is simple
union of cylinders, tori, cones and spheres. The hose is made of a lot of
spheres. No radiosity was used, only large area-lights were. Render time was
about 12h on 2 GHz Celeron (I can not say more precisely, I had to continue
tracing). I used very high area-lights settings (11, 11, adaptive 4) and AA
(method 2 depth 2 threshold 0).
Sincerely Yours,
Alex Kluchikov.

Really! That surprised me. I'd love to see the source of how you lit this
scene.

Perfect glossy advertisement look. I can see that pale colors display
much less banding. Very nice looking pic.

I really like this one!
I really like the area-light. I usually use low settings (2, 2, adaptive 4
or something like that) with high focal blur settings. Only if I don't use
focal blur, I use higher area-light settings.
I tried the low-area-light-high-focal-blur thing with animations together
with the folks at the Internet Movie Project (http://imp.3dhost.net/33.mpg
[720x480, 2.31 MB] and http://imp.3dhost.net/35.mpg [720x480, 6.23 MB]) and
there was no jittering at all, against my expectations.

Supa-realistic.
What... is it pumping, though? It looks like it has to be pretty gloopy.

Thank you.
By the way, I've posted the source in p.b.s.-f. just a minutes ago.

Hm. I could not find the word "gloopy" in any dictionary. What does it mean?

Alex Kluchikov.

Beautiful render, Alex.

High viscosity, sticky, like cold syrup.
